what specific historical factors do you think enabled christianity, a monotheistic tradition, to overtake and eventually displace the thousands of years of polytheistic religious tradition in the mediterranean world after 300 ce?
The solution is intricate. According to experts, neither Judaism, Christianity, nor Islam gave rise to monotheism. It's a contemporary idea. Many ancient faiths appear polytheistic on the surface.
All of these historical civilizations, whether you're looking at Mesopotamia or ancient Egypt, Greece or Rome, the Kingdom of Aksum in northern Africa, or ancient Israel, previously worshipped a variety of deities. According to Andrew Durdin, a religious historian at Florida State University, the truth is a little more nuanced.
The line between polytheism and monotheism kind of dissolves when you look across human history," Durdin told Live Science.

B. To communicate to the colonists that Great Britain has not and will not change their policies
C. To assure the readers that the United States has attempted to resolve the issues with Great Britain peacefully and diplomatically
D. To discourage the reader from viewing the leaders of the United States as tyrannical
Answer:
A. To dissuade the reader from joining forces with Great Britain to fight against the United States
Explanation:
ContextualizationThe Declaration of Independence was a document adopted by the Second Continental Congress to declare the American colonies independence from Britain. Approved in July of 1776, it allowed the 13 colonies to form independent states.
Let's look at the Answers to evaluate if they are true or not:
To dissuade the reader from joining forces with Great Britain to fight against the United States
This is not considered one of the primary purposes of the Declaration of Independence. By the time the Declaration of Independence was adopted, the American Revolution was already in full force and the war had already begun to be fought. Furthermore, the given excerpt has nothing that points to this being true. Therefore, this would be the answer since the question is asking for the one that is not a primary purpose.
To communicate to the colonists that Great Britain has not and will not change their policies
This was one of the purposes of the Declaration of Independence, which listed a long list of grievances done by the Crown. These grievances were meant to show the need for independence. This is implied by the statement: " Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury."
To assure the readers that the United States has attempted to resolve the issues with Great Britain peacefully and diplomatically
This is true. The period before the Declaration of Independence saw the United States attempting to resolve many of the issues. For example, nonviolent approaches such as boycotts, tea parties, and negotiation were used but largely unsuccessful. The Olive Branch Petition was likely one of the best examples of this. This is seen reflected in the excerpt through, "In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms..."
To discourage the reader from viewing the leaders of the United States as tyrannical
This is also another purpose of the Declaration of Independence. The reason for independence was that the colonies viewed the crown as tyrannical. The Declaration aimed to promote the values of democracy. This can be seen reflected in the Declaration through the phrase, ". A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people."
Therefore, all of the following statements outline the primary purposes of paragraphs 3 and 4 in the Declaration of independence except statement A.

Answer:
1) The United States' policy of remaining neutral while still supporting the Allies during World War II was a difficult balancing act. This is exemplified by British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain's statement that the U.S. was "the one great hope of the world" but could not be expected to "take on all the burden of defending Europe." President Roosevelt also recognized the challenges of this policy, stating that the U.S. must "steer clear of foreign wars and yet, we must be the great arsenal of democracy."
Despite these challenges, I believe that the U.S.'s policy of remaining neutral while still supporting the Allies was ultimately successful. As Roosevelt noted, the U.S. was able to provide crucial aid to the Allies through programs like Lend-Lease without formally entering the war. This allowed the U.S. to avoid the significant loss of life and resources that would have come with direct involvement in the war, while still playing a crucial role in the Allies' victory. Ultimately, this policy helped to ensure a successful outcome for the Allies and allowed the U.S. to emerge from the war as a global superpower.

My company was deployed here a week ago, and since then, the camp has been filled with tension and hatred. The front-line clashes extend over 20 kilometers up to our camp. The sounds of the gun machines and the rocket and grenade blasts serve as a constant reminder of the hellish conditions in which they are being endured.
I hope to summon the fortitude necessary to stand up for this cause and make you proud. Although the men in my division are tough and educated, it's difficult to be positive when under that much pressure.
I hope that back home people are aware of the sacrifices made by the military to come here and risk their lives every day to achieve victory. No man or woman can possibly be the same after going through all this suffering and adversity. But for the time that is left, I hope to spend many calm days with you.
