Discuss TWO negative effects of unequal power relations on one's health as
well as one's general well-being

Answers

Answer:

Background

Research on factors associated with partner violence against women is often framed within the context of gender inequality and power imbalances between husbands and wives—inequalities that are considered products of broader structural systems. Tanzania, a patriarchal society where high levels of partner violence exists, has gone through rapid economic and social changes over the past two decades. Increasing numbers of women are seeking paid work, and men’s ideals of manhood have reshaped with evidence of extra marital relations and alcohol use. Nationally representative population-based data documents 46.2% of ever-married women have experienced physical or sexual partner violence in their lifetime; 29.6% in the past year. In order to plan appropriate interventions to end violence against women, factors consistently associated with abuse need to be understood.

Methods

This study uses “couples” data from the 2015 Tanzania Demographic and Health Survey to examine correlates of past year partner violence against women. Multivariate regression analysis was used to explore individual and relational-level variables—including socio-demographic characteristics and history of abuse among women, partner behavioural characteristics, and indicators of gender and economic inequality—among 1278 married and cohabiting couples.

Results

At the individual level, women’s experiences of non-partner violence (sexual abuse by a non-partner and witnessing violence in childhood) was strongly associated with risk and highlights that all forms of violence against women serve to keep them subordinated. Partner behavioural characteristics (polygamy and problematic alcohol use) were also associated with risk. Household socio-economic status, however, was not significantly associated with women’s risk in the final multivariate model. At the relational-level, men’s age difference of 10 or more years; and any employment (compared to none/unpaid) were associated with lower risk. When considering attitudes tolerant towards wife abuse, the strongest association with risk of violence was when both partners held tolerant views.

Conclusion

The findings support the assertions of

Violence Against Women And rigid gender roles are the negative effects of unequal power relations.

What is Unequal Power Relation?

Each of the students (Lorenzo, Luis, Oscar, and Christian) had different skill sets. Describe how each of them contributed to the team?

What is one major life lesson you learned from this movie?

How did the boys persevere through difficult times during the movie?

Answers

Answer:

In 2004, four Latino teenagers arrive at the Marine Advanced Technology Education Robotics Competition at the University of California, Santa Barbara (USCB); born in Mexico, raised in Phoenix, Arizona, where they attend an underfunded public high school.

Oscar Vazquez goes to an Armed Forces Career Center to enlist into the U.S. Army; while he is waiting for his interview, he sees a video announcement and brochures about a Marine Underwater Robotics Competition, an event sponsored by NASA and the United States Armed Forces. Although he distinguishes himself as part of the Carl Hayden High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, he is forbidden to join because of his status as an undocumented immigrant; he is recommended not to present himself to any government office to avoid being reported to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. Vazquez lies to his mother about his progress in the Army; looking for another way to move ahead in life, he investigates the Underwater Robotics Competition.

With no previous formal teaching experience and between jobs, Fredi Cameron interviews for a vacant substitute teacher position at Carl Hayden High School. The principal questions his job stability record, but eventually hires Cameron because of his PhD and engineer credentials. After the interview, while in the school's parking lot, Lorenzo Santillan overrides Cameron's car temperature safety sensor for $20 to avoid a more costly repair job.

Explanation:

As part of his normal teaching responsibilities, Cameron is assigned to oversee an engineering club, where he meets Vazquez, who is looking for help to build a remotely operated underwater robot for the UCSB robotics competition. Cameron grudgingly accepts to help, even though he doesn't feel he is going to remain at the school for long.

Vazquez, looking for more kids to join the engineering club, talks to teacher Gwen Kolinsky, who recommends Cristian Arcega. After agreeing to help, Arcega takes the technical lead of the project and sketches an early design of the potential robot. Before starting to build it, Cameron suggests a prototype so they can do a proof of concept model.

Cameron starts to learn about the competition rules and requirements, which demands the robot to successfully complete a series of underwater tasks. Kolinsky offers to help teaching him about the PBASIC programming language, to implement the robot's intelligence module.

After catching Santillan stealing from the principal's car, Cameron forces him to join the team and the now named Robotics Academic Club, so he can help with the mechanical design and building of the prototype. They later recruit Luis Aranda, for being strong enough to help lift the machine in and out of the pool.

Because of a lack of funds to see the project through, the team starts looking for spare parts and asking for donations from the local businesses, which raise $663.53, plus $134.63 given by Cameron himself. The small budget forces them to scale back the original design and to innovate in how the robot is constructed, including the glue which gives the robot its name, "Stinky".

Needing to go from Phoenix to Santa Barbara creates problems because three of the four boys were undocumented immigrants from Mexico. The day before the competition, they have to fix a critical electrical problem, due to a leak in the case that protected the intelligence module, by using tampons to contain the water.

They face several highly funded college teams; the team from MIT is backed by a $10,000 grant from ExxonMobil. The Phoenix teenagers scraped together less than $1,000 and built their robot out of scavenged parts. Yet their robot finishes the practical segment of the competition in fourth place with 75 points after missing three tasks. They are still hopeful for a chance to make it into third place because 30% of the total score would be based on the judges' technical evaluation and interview of the teams.

The night of the awards ceremony, they are given a Special Achievement award, which the team assumes is their final result. They are later surprised when they are announced as the champions of the event.

b. Case study
c. Observational study
d. Archival Research
e. Experimental Research

Answers

Answer:

a. Correlational Research

Explanation:

The research presented in the question above can be classified as correlational research. This is because, as we can see, this research tried to relate whether the product price rate was related to the customer satisfaction index with the website access, which provided this product. In this case, we can see that the research related two variables and the correlational research is exactly the one that establishes a relationship between two variables.

If the marginal propensity to consume is 0.75, and there is no investment accelerator or crowding out, a $15 billion increase in government expenditures would shift the aggregate demand curve right by:__________.
a. $60 billion, but the effect would be larger if there were an investment accelerator.
b. $60 billion, but the effect would be smaller if there were an investment accelerator.
c. $45 billion, but the effect would be larger if there were an investment accelerator.
d.$45 billion, but the effect would be smaller if there were an investment accelerator.

Answers

Answer: B. $60 billion, but the effect would be smaller if there were an investment accelerator.

Explanation:

The above question is solved below:

MPC = 0.75

Shift in aggregate demand will then be:

= (1/1-MPC) × ∆G

= (1/1-0.75) × 15

= (1/0.25) × 15

= 4 × 15

= $60 billion

Assuming there was an investment accelerator, the result above will be smaller. Therefore, the correct option is B"$60 billion, but the effect would be smaller if there were an investment accelerator".

One of the most important aspects of a(n) __________ is to document the chain of custody for the evidence. This ensures the continuity of the evidence, identifies every person who came into contact with it, and details the time and location of where the evidence transfers took place

Answers

Answer:

One of the most important aspects of an evidence log is to document the chain of custody for the evidence.

Explanation:

A simple way to understand what was said in the question is to think of a crime you have seen portrayed on a TV show. The police find evidence in the crime scene, that is, anything that may reveal who committed the crime. Sometimes they will collect objects to take with them, other times they will take pictures of the scene. All of that is evidence.

However, there must be a careful handling of that evidence, otherwise it may be lost or tampered with. That is what the evidence log is for. In an evidence log, all information regarding that evidence will be noted down. Who had it before, who has it now, when the evidence changed hands, etc. For instance, if an evidence is taken to the lab, that fact is noted down. If later it is taken to storage, this is also noted down. That way, a chain of custody is created, that is, we have information that shows each step of handling that evidence.
