Answer:
There are many famous graphic designers. I chose to write about David Carson, Milton Glaser, and Paul Rand. Each of these three designers made major contributions to graphic design and created some of the most iconic designs of the twentieth century.
David Carson: Carson is mostly known for his use of experimental typography and magazine design. His typographic techniques can be described as dirty or rough. The text often looks like it was cut piecemeal out of other magazines and pasted together on one page. He helped develop the style of typography that is related to skateboard culture while he worked at Transworld Skateboarding magazine in the 1980s. He then went on to found the magazine Ray Gun, where he further experimented with typography and layout. This led him to more interesting experimental designs.
Milton Glaser: Glaser is another famous graphic designer. He is probably best remembered for creating the I ♥ NY design, though he created several other iconic designs as well. He developed the bullet logo for DC Comics as well as a famous Bob Dylan poster. In addition, he was one of the founders of New York Magazine in the late 1960s. Much of his design work is colorful, with powerful lines and shapes outlining the natural contours of the content. Though less edgy than Carson’s material, Glaser’s work remains vibrant and interesting to this day.
Paul Rand: Rand was a famous logo designer of the twentieth century. He designed the iconic logos of IBM, Enron, ABC, NeXt, and UPS, to name a few. His work is highly influenced by Sachplakat, a German style of design. Because Rand’s focus is on designing logos, his style is more reserved. His designs are simple, yet powerful embodiments of the companies that hire him. The designs are rarely experimental; they present the content simply and effectively. His strength is efficacy and beauty in simplicity, whereas Carson is more elegant in his experiments. Glaser’s style lies in the middle, between these two.
