Scientists have not yet determined conclusively whether DNA or RNA was the first nucleic acid that evolved on early Earth. Why does this topic interest scientists?

Answers

Answer 1
In short because not knowing something really bugs people.

We humans tend to be inquisitive by nature. So, we developed science in order to satisfy our curiosity and to understand the natural world.

The whole point of science is to try to understand the natural world around us. We do this through repeatable, statistical and empirical means in order to try to figure things out, and try do so with minimal error.

One of the big things that are bugging scientist today is: where does life come from? Obviously we see life all around us, so it must’ve come from somewhere.

So the current running theory is that life is just very complex chemistry. And for life to have started,(as it obviously did), it needed to self replicate, and the two well-known molecules that can self replicate is DNA and RNA, but further testing needs to be done in order to figure out which molecule came first.

It may not end up being DNA or RNA at all, but some other nucleic acid we have yet to discover. That’s what makes science so cool, because it’s on the cutting edge between knowledge and ignorance.

I hope that helps.
Answer 2

It is believed that RNA evolved earlier than DNA, but it is still not clear. Therefore, this topic interests scientists.

What is nucleic acid?

Nucleic acid is a macromolecule that is a polymer of nucleotide. It is made up of pentose sugar, phosphate group, and nitrogenous bases (purines and pyrimidines) which include adenine, guanine, thymine, uracil, and cytosine.

It is of two types, DNA (deoxyribose nucleic acid) and RNA (ribose nucleic acid). They play a very important role in heredity and protein synthesis in all living organisms. It is found in the cell.

DNA is a double helix, while RNA is a single helical structure. DNA is converted into RNA through the process of transcription and RNA is converted into DNA by reverse transcription. It is believed that RNA evolved earlier than DNA, but it is still not clear. Therefore, this topic interests scientists.

4.The crabs that live in the aquatic biome pictured depend on living in shallow water that has a temperature no greater than 60 degrees F. If climate change causes an increase of that water’s temperature to 62 degrees F, what will likely happen to the dolphins in that biome, and why?

Answers

Answer:

The dolphins population may diminish a little.

Explanation:

Crabs are one of the many things dolphins eat, and, as the prompt suggest, they cannot live in temperature greater than 60 degrees F. If climate change makes the temperature 62 degrees F, the crab population will all die. However, note that dolphins do not only eat crabs, as they have other food sources. However, crabs are a major population, so we can see a disruption in the food web, with there being less dolphins than usual.

Crossing-over can happen at any location on homologous chromosomes. The farther apart two genes are, the more likely that crossing-over would separate them.

On these chromosomes, which pair of genes would be most likely to be separated by crossing-over: A and B, or A and C? Why?

Answers

Answer:

The answer is C I believe. Chromosomes usually make a pattern and thats the points were it would make a pattern.

~Paige~

Crossing-over chromosomes.

The crossing of the chromosomes is the swap or the exchange of genetic materials. It takes place in the germline, at the formation of the egg. This is also called meiosis. It aligns with DNA sequencing. The pried chromosomes cross over the other.

Thus the answer is they make a pattern that points in the pattern.

This shows the crossing happens at the homologous chromosome. The farthest apart two genes the most likely they cross each other that would separate them. Thus the option C is correct. They cross at the end., hence is a process called recombination.

Human have cut and frayed the woven tapestry of Earth's biodiversity. List and describe three ways.

Answers

Answer:

1. Building into the ecosystem.

2. Hunting animals for sport.

3. Increasing carbon emissions.

Explanation:

All of these are bad for Earth's biodiversity. Building into the ecosystem destroys habitats for animals, which causes the population of that species to decline. Hunting animals for sport decreases populations as well, and doesn't keep the environment in check. Increasing carbon emissions heat up the Earth, leading to colder climates warming up. This, in turn, destroys the ecosystem as well.

Anthropogenic activities and continued neglect of the ecosystem has lead to various deleterious effect on biodiversity.

What is biodiversity?

It means the presence of several species of animals, microorganisms, and plants in a habitat.

What is the rivet popper hypothesis?

According to this theory, the ecosystem is kept together by thousands of species, just as thousands of rivets hold together an airplane.

It may not affect flight safety at first if rivets are removed but over time, the airframe becomes dangerously weak. Similarly, species extinction in the ecosystem impairs the ecosystem's ability to function properly.

What are the three ways in which humans have affected biodiversity?

Habitat loss and fragmentation:  It destroys the natural habitat and niche of organisms and leads to their decline

overexploitation: It leads to depletion of the natural resources and increases the risk of extinction of endangered species.

Pollution: It destroys the quality of the habitat of organisms and creates a toxic environment which leads to the decline of species.

In a desert ecosystem, coyotes and rattlesnakes both eat the same type of mouse as a primary part of their diets. Recently, coyotes have been hunted and killed by people, decreasing the overall coyote population. How will this most likely affect the rattlesnake population over time?

Answers

Answer:

Answer:  It will increase because coyotes are the competition.

Explanation:

An ecological niche can be defined as the functional role which an organism performs in the ecosystem in order to sustain it's life. The functional roles include how an organism obtains it's food, type of food eaten by the organism, type of habitat chosen by the organism and type of breeding season used by the organism.

In the given situation, both coyotes and rattlesnakes are dependent upon the same ecological niche that is they are dependent upon mouse as a primary part of their diets. As, both coyotes and rattlesnakes are dependent upon the same diet there may exist the competition between the two species. But it is mentioned that the coyote population is decreasing therefore the population of rattlesnake will most likely increase as the competition for the same diet decreased.
