The next question refers to Shedding Light on a Dark Day, by Robin Meriwether. The paragraphs have been numbered to help you identify them more easily.
Shedding Light on a Dark Day, by Robin Meriwether
1. On May 19, 1780, the skies over New England turned dark in the middle of the day. For more than two hundred years, New England's Dark Day had been shrouded in mystery. Some blamed volcanoes. Some suggested supernatural events. Some claimed it was a sign from the heavens. No one knew for certain what happened. Many thought the mystery would never be solved.
2. Researchers at the University of Missouri were fascinated by the case. They began examining trees in all surrounding areas. Fire damage in a Canadian forest finally revealed the truth. Scientists looked at burned tree rings and discovered that huge wildfires once raged in the mountains near Ontario. The savage flames created blankets of black smoke. The smoke traveled high into the atmosphere, darkening the New England skies hundreds of miles away.
A student attempting to identify the main idea of paragraph two wrote the following sentence:

Answer:
More Payment if your house catch on fire what are you going to do about your next house when you payed bills on more space
Explanation:
I think you should not because space is a dangerous place. As of 2020, there have been 15 astronaut and 4 cosmonaut fatalities during spaceflight. Astronauts have also died while training for space missions, such as the Apollo 1 launch pad fire which killed an entire crew of three. Another reason is the lack of oxygen and pressure. If people migrated to space, they would most likely die.

Pioneering in Florida
1 Ben Hill Doster moved his family from Atlanta, Georgia, to Jupiter, Florida, in 1894 to help his sister. Her husband had died, but she hoped to own 160 acres of land there as a homestead. She just needed to live on it for one more year.
2 Soon after they arrived, Ben Doster took his family on a boat ride up the Loxahatchee River. Suddenly, the air turned cold. Feeling agitated, Doster rowed hurriedly back to the tiny cabin, and the family huddled inside near a roaring fire. That night they heard sounds like gunshots, but the sounds turned out to be the trunks of orange trees exploding when they froze. The next morning, they awoke to find their 16-acre pineapple patch frozen and their garden vegetables dead.
3 Many new settlers left soon after the Big Freeze of 1894, but the Doster family stayed. They replanted their pineapples and their garden, and they also opened up a general store. Slowly, Doster’s wife and two daughters learned to love the land of southern Florida and respect its dangers.
4 In their first year, they began to recognize the sounds of the swamp at night. They thought of it as a nightly serenade; different types of frogs had distinctive calls. The tiniest frogs chirped “tea table, tea table.” The bullfrogs boomed “rung, rung, rung.” Owls hooted and birds called to their mates. Sometimes, alligators bellowed.
5 But one night they awoke to hear the painful scream of a woman. She sounded like she was nearby, so Mrs. Doster prepared to go outside to look for her. But Ben Doster stopped her at the door. He explained that when panthers screamed in the night, they sounded exactly like a woman in pain. No one should go outside to help because panthers were dangerous.
6 One of Doster’s daughters, Dora, later wrote about her memories of the time. She wrote lovingly of mangrove and cypress trees hung with Spanish moss. She saw white herons standing like statues waiting to pluck fish from the shallow water. Yellow and orange butterflies danced down a path in front of her. She thought the ocean before a hurricane looked like a vicious monster, curling its jaws and showing its teeth. She learned to watch for the poisonous snakes that lived along the paths.
7 Dora’s mother was a strong and brave woman. She stood up to panthers, alligators, and hurricanes. But for her, there was more than danger, beauty, and excitement. Dora’s father worked long hours at the store. Dora thought her mother must have gotten very homesick and lonely at the cabin. She saw her mother watch the trains pass to the east and listen to their mournful wails. Dora believed she often wanted to be on one of those trains, headed back home. She had grown up in Atlanta and had not planned to become a pioneer.

Explain how the Dosters and Ponce de León were both exploring a “new world.” Use details from both texts to describe their different experiences.
Answer:
Errr.. Just check below!
Explanation:
I notice that both of these stories are setting a new goal in a new place.
For Pioneering in Florida, it shows that they had to move but just for one more year due to help his sister and get her homestead. They had to go through many obstacles so they can succeed in their goal.
Okay so, for Finding Gold, Finding Florida, it seems like they go something similar but, Ponce de León wanted to find the "Fountain of Youth" and gold in an island called Bimini. He had set a goal but died sadly due to the Calusa people attacked him and shot him at an arrow at his leg.
Basically, I see something going on for both of these stories. They are similar to what they got at the end. They didn't get what they wanted most but, get something great. For Finding Gold, Finding Florida, it showed they didn't find the "Fountain of Youth" but got his voyages spurred others to search for gold and other riches in the New World.
In Pioneering in Florida, they had the whole Doster family in Florida.
It was harsh for them living but, they were able to pass the obstacles in Florida. Dora's mother wanted to go back someday in the trains due to her homesickness. (I forgot what I was doing-)

Some thoughts to help you think about this answer:
Have you ever written anything down when you have been upset or happy? Think about how this would help others know how you are feeling without talking to them. This would help them because it would show what you are thinking!
Have you ever had to read a paragraph of a journal excerpt or something? Think about how that felt. Think about if it was about someone in history about a historical event. This would help you know how that person was feeling at that time!
I hope that these thoughts help you with this question, as I can not just give you a paragraph and have you copy it down, as that would be plagiarism, and that would most likely get you in trouble
