What does the author mean by the following quote from paragraph 7, and how does it develop the central ideas of the article?: “When leaders attempt to navigate the slippery slope of fairness, they will find themselves arbiter of public opinion and hostage to the politically correct”

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

The author means that when people with power attempt to be fair they will be torn between two groups the people (critics) who feel that their choice is incorrect and the ones who feel that it is correct due to the situation. So kind of like the subject of bringing beheading back in the US many feel it is a horrible idea but many also feel it is correct. And for the second one, I am not sure because I have not read your article only the seventh paragraph.

Answer 2

According to the author, we shouldn't justify our own inertia by constantly claiming that life is unfair. People are not born in equal circumstances, but they have equal chances to make the best of their circumstances. Leaders, more than any other people, shouldn't fall prey to such vague concepts as fairness. Many things aren't fair, and that is true. Then again, many fair things wouldn't be the right things to do. Leaders should choose what is right over what is presumably fair. By pursuing "fairness", we are fooling ourselves, and providing an excuse for complaining instead of acting.

I am American, so I am assuming people from other countries are calling us this? I have never heard that description being used in the United States. Study: ‘High Incomes Don’t Bring You Happiness’
By Caitlin Kenney 2010
People often have conflicting ideas about whether or not money can buy happiness. Some believe that the lifestyle that money can offer is equivalent to happiness, while others fear that money can lead to greediness that can never be satisfied. In this study, psychologist Daniel Kahneman and economist Angus Deaton seek the answer to this question. As you read, take notes on the different definitions of happiness that exist and how they are affected by money.
How much money do you think it would take to make you happy? Would an extra $10,000 a year do it or would it take a $100,000 salary bump to improve your mood?
A new study from Princeton economist Angus Deaton and psychologist Daniel Kahneman suggests that number depends on how you define happiness. The authors draw a distinction1 between emotional well-being, “the quality of a person’s everyday experience such as joy, fascination, anxiety, sadness, anger, and affection” and life evaluation “a person’s thoughts about his or her life (on a longer time scale).”
Their study of data from the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index found that while “life evaluations rise steadily with income,” emotional well being drops off at about $75,000 a year.
Beyond $75,000, money is important for life evaluation, but does nothing for happiness, enjoyment, sadness, or stress. Both factors are important; it is good to have high emotional wellbeing, but it is also good to think your life is going well.
According to the most recent census2 data, the median US household income was $52,000 in 2008, with about a third of households making above $75,000.

C. Use a variety of accents
) D. Read the poem softly so the audience must guess at the words

What is poetry?

Poetry, sometimes known as poetry, is a genre of literature that evokes meanings in addition to or instead of a superficial apparent significance by using the aesthetic and frequently rhythmic aspects of language, such as phonaesthetics, symbolism of sound, and metre. A poem comprises a literary work that a poet creates by adhering to this idea.

Poetry has a rich and varied history that has changed in different ways around the world. With African hunting poetry from prehistoric times and panegyric as well as elegiac court poetry from the civilizations of the Nile, Niger, or Volta River valleys, it can be traced back to at least prehistoric times. Use a pace that is appropriate for the tone of the poem. This  technique is most effective for conveying the emotional tone of the poem.

Therefore, the correct option is option B.

Out of My Mind
by Sharon M. Draper

Synopsis
Eleven-year-old Melody is not like most people. She can't walk. She can't talk. She can't write. All because she has cerebral palsy. But she also has a photographic memory; she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. She's the smartest kid in her whole school, but NO ONE knows it. Most people—her teachers, her doctors, her classmates—dismiss her as mentally challenged because she can't tell them otherwise. But Melody refuses to be defined by her disability. And she's determined to let everyone know it…somehow.
