Which statement describes the motion of a ball as it drops onto a vertical spring?
a. The acceleration of the ball decreases as the spring shrinks.
b. The accIleration of the ball decreases as the spring extends.
c. The velocity of the ball changes from positive to negative as the spring shrinks.
d. The velocity of the ball changes from negative to positive as the spring extends.

Answers

Answer:

F = M a    Newton's second law

F = - K x     force exerted by compressed spring

a = - K x / M

a) is true because the ball originally is accelerated due to gravity and this acceleration will decrease as the spring in compressed

One could argue for (d) if the downward direction was designated as negative

Prior to maximum compression of the spring the velocity would negative and as the spring began to extend (and the ball began move upward) the velocity of the ball would change from negative to positive

Give a reasonable order-of-magnitude estimate of the number of golf balls that would fill a home
swimming pool

Answers

An order of magnitude is a number of the form 10^n such that can be used to compare magnitudes or quantities.

We will find that  the order of magnitude of golf balls that fill a home swimming pool is 10^6

In this case, we want to estimate the number of golf balls that would fill a home swimming pool.

We know that the diameter of a golf ball is D = 42.6mm = 0.0426m

And the volume of a sphere of diameter D is:

V = (4/3)*pi*(D/2)^3

where pi = 3.14

Then the volume of a single golf ball is:

V =  (4/3)*3.14*( 0.0426m/2)^3 = 0.00004 m^3

Now we need to find the average volume of a home swimming pool, we can use 48 m^3 (an average one) to do the general math.

To find the number of golf balls that enter in that volume, we need to do the quotient between the volume of the pool and the volume of a single ball:

N = (48 m^3)/(0.00004 m^3)  = 1,200,000

If we round this to the next order of magnitude: 10^6 (the exponent is the number of digits at the right of the one)

Then the order of magnitude of golf balls that enter in a home swimming pool is  10^6

1. Review the data collected in the lab and explain the movement of the cart relative to the reference point(starting point). Be sure to mention how far from the origin the cart gets in each time interval.

2. Review the data collected in the lab and determine the relationship between the position of the car relative to the reference point and the amount of time in each time interval in other words as time goes by how does the position change?

3. For this response he will show your work on calculating the speed of the car during the lab remember you are used to change and slope equation or (y^2-y^1)/(x^2-x^1).
Now let’s make connections to the data table the horizontal variable is the time which we will represent with t and the vertical variable is position which we will represent with an x using this we can rewrite the equation above to the following
(final position - initial position)/
(final time - initial time)

Answers

When the data of the position and time are available, the velocity which is the ratio of change in position to change in time which is the same as the slope of the graph of the data can be calculated. For the car, we have;

1. The car moves progressively further as the time interval increases

2. The relationship between the position of the car and the time interval is that the car moves approximately 0.02 units of distance for each change in time of 0.05

3. The speed of the car is 0.398

The reason for arriving at the above values are as follows:

1. From the given data, we have that the cart moves progressively further from the start for each time interval increase, such that the cart moves progressively further from the origin in each time interval increases

[tex]\begin{array}{|c|c|} \mathbf{ Time} & \mathbf{ Position}\\2.2&0.8963\\2.25& 0.9164\\2.3 & 0.9375\\2.35 & 0.9581\\2.4 & 0.9759\end{array}\right][/tex]

2. From the given data, we have;

At time t = 2.2, the position = 0.8963

At time t = 2.25, the position = 0.9164

The change in position for a change in time from 2.2 to 2.25 is, Δx = 0.9164 - 0.8963 = 0.0201

Similarly, for the change in time from 2.25 to 2.3, which is a change of 0.05 seconds, we have;

Δx = 0.9375 - 0.9164 = 0.0211

The next interval is 2.3 to 2.35, Δx = 0.9581 - 0.9375 = 0.0206

Therefore, the change in the distance from the origin increases by approximately 0.02 for each increase in tome by Δt = 0.05 seconds

3. The slope equation is presented as follows;

[tex]Slope = \dfrac{y_2 - y_1 }{x_2 - x_1}[/tex]

The speed of the car is given by the slope of the distance time graph, where;

The horizontal variable, x, is the time, t (x = t)

The vertical variable, y, is the position, x (y = x)

Based on the given assignment of the variables to the x, and y, variables, we have;

[tex]Slope = Speed = \dfrac{y_2 - y_1 }{x_2 - x_1} = \dfrac{x_2 -x_1}{t_2 - t_1} = \mathbf{\dfrac{Final \ position - Initial \ position }{Final \ time - Initial \ time}}[/tex]

Plugging in the values in the table, we have;

[tex]Speed = \dfrac{Final \ position - Initial \ position }{Final \ time - Initial \ time} = \mathbf{\dfrac{0.9759 - 0.8963 }{2.4 - 2.2}} = 0.398[/tex]

The speed of the car = 0.398

Prove that the acceleration due to gravity is independent to the mass of the falling body.

Answers

Answer:

½mv²=mgh

g=½(V²/h)

Explanation:

When an object is held at a height, it posses gravitational potential energy which is mgh, where m= mass, h=height, g=acceleration due gravity

When the object is dropped, the potential energy will be converted to kinetic energy which is ½mv², where V=velocity at which the object moves.

V=∆h/t, ∆h is change in height with respect to time.

½mv²=mgh

Mass cancel out,

g=v²/2h

This implies that g does not depend or is not affected by mass. Hence heavy object and light object will reach the ground at the same time when dropped from the same height. When air resistance is negligible.

Q: Which is the cause of the sun's magnetic properties?

A: uneven churning of plasma

Explanation:

took quick check

good luck yall

The uneven churning of plasma is the cause of the sun's magnetic properties, therefore the correct answer is option B.

What is a magnetic field?

A magnetic field could be understood as an area around a magnet, magnetic material, or an electric charge in which magnetic force is exerted.

For a simple bar magnet, N-pole and S-pole are the points on a magnet that have the strongest magnetic field. The magnetic field originates from the north pole and terminates in the south pole of a magnet.

The positively charged ions and negatively charged electrons that make up the plasma of the Sun move around a lot due to its high temperatures. Multiple intricate magnetic fields that twist and turn are produced by the moving plasma. A magnetic field is produced by the extremely hot plasma that escapes from the Sun as the solar wind.

Thus, The sun's magnetic properties are caused by uneven plasma churning, so option B is the correct answer.

Power in AC Circuits

Electrical power consumed by a resistance in an AC circuit is different to the power consumed by a reactance as reactances do not dissipate energy

In a DC circuit, the power consumed is simply the product of the DC voltage times the DC current, given in watts. However, for AC circuits with reactive components we have to calculate the consumed power differently.

Electrical power is the “rate” at which energy is being consumed in a circuit and as such all electrical and electronic components and devices have a limit to the amount of electrical power that they can safely handle. For example, a 1/4 watt resistor or a 20 watt amplifier.

Electrical power can be time-varying either as a DC quantity or as an AC quantity. The amount of power in a circuit at any instant of time is called the instantaneous power and is given by the well-known relationship of power equals volts times amps (P = V*I). So one watt (which is the rate of expending energy at one joule per second) will be equal to the volt-ampere product of one volt times one ampere.

Then the power absorbed or supplied by a circuit element is the product of the voltage, V across the element, and the current, I flowing through it. So if we had a DC circuit with a resistance of “R” ohms, the power dissipated by the resistor in watts is given by any of the following generalised formulas:
