Please can someone tell me the chapter 2 summary of Kensuke's kingdom
Answer:
The answer is
Explanation:
A young boy, Michael, travels with his parents around the world on the yacht Peggy Sue. Michael's parents teach him what he would have normally learnt at school themselves. When he is on lookout one night, steering the boat, Michael and his dog, Stella Artois, are washed overboard. They awake to discover that they are stranded on a desert island in the Pacific Ocean.
While Michael is struggling to survive on the island, food is regularly left for him. To his surprise, he learns that an old man called Kensuke is also living on the island. Kensuke helps Michael to survive. He sets guidelines that Michael thinks are just annoyances. When he is nearly killed by a giant jelly fish, Kensuke tends to Michael, and Michael eventually befriends him.
Michael teaches Kensuke English, and Kensuke in return teaches Michael how to paint, how to fish and where to find the best food and water. He is eventually revealed to be a doctor and survivor of ww 2, and he believes that his family died in nagasaki after the atomic bomb was dropped there on August 9, 1945. Over time Kensuke begins to understand how Michael feels and how he misses his family. They both build a beacon that would be lit to signal to ships, but for a long time they see no sign of any ships. Later, however Michael witnesses a Chinese junk and he consults Kensuke as to whether or not he should light the beacon, but Kensuke recognizes the ship as that of poachers and he and Michael rush to gather all the orangutans into the cave to protect them from the threat that lies in the ship. They nearly succeed but miss out one orangutan, that Kensuke calls Kikanbo, which they could not find. The ship arrives and they both hear gunshots. When the ship leaves they discover that some gibbon monkeys had been killed, but that Kikanbo was still alive. The next time they see a ship it is not the poachers and they both light the fire. The crew on the ship see the fire and change direction, heading towards the island. When the boat is closer, Michael sees that the boat is the Peggy Sue, with his parents on-board. Kensuke decides at that point, despite thinking otherwise earlier, that he would not be sailing home with Michael and tells him to keep everything a secret until 10 years had passed and Kensuke was dead. Michael runs out to the beach where the ship had landed and is reunited with his parents.

Read the excerpt from Warriors Don't Cry. The next day, in the Sunday paper, I saw a pitiful closeup photograph of Elizabeth, walking alone in front of Central on that first day of integration. It pained my insides to see, once again, the twisted, scowling white faces with open mouths jeering, clustered about my friend's head like bouquets of grotesque flowers. It was an ad paid for by a white man from a small town in Arkansas. "If you live in Arkansas," the ad read, "study this picture and know shame. When hate is unleashed and bigotry finds a voice, God help us all." I felt a kind of joy and hope in the thought that one white man was willing to use his own money to call attention to the injustice we were facing. Maybe the picture would help others realize that what they were doing was hurting everybody. What is the central idea of the excerpt
answer: It is about the significance of race during an era of injustice and how one specific race can change the mind of others
Explanation: The author explains that the picture was paid for by a white person and expresses the hope for people to realize the fact that injustice is unacceptable. The fact the author stresses the fact that a person of the white or caucasian race wanted others to see the injustice of a minority race means that something like that doesn't happen often and its something to be excited about since it indicates change. The author expressing the pain they feel when a white audience makes unsettling faces at their friend means said minority isn't favored or seen as less by the in this case superior minority(whites). The fact that a white person paid to expose injustice to the general public means they are more inclined to listen and change their ways. This is why the author says the picture may help people see that injustice amongst others is wrong.
The central theme of the given excerpt is that there is support and sympathy for the youngsters struggling to integrate into schools.
What is the "Warriors Don't Cry" about?Melba Pattillo Beals of the Little Rock Nine explores not only the oppressive force of racism, but also the ability of young people to change ideas of race and identity in this essential autobiographical account by one of the Civil Rights Movement's most powerful figures.
In Beals' Warriors Don't Cry, Link's internal struggle is that he is unable openly show his assistance for Melba as well as the Little Rock Nine for fear of being spurned by his segregationist peers.
The central theme of the excerpt is that there is sympathy and support for the children who are struggling to integrate into schools.
Thus, this is the central idea of the excerpt.

I'm always happy to help :)Read the excerpt from Iqbal. My first impression was that he was handsome. Then I thought, No, he isn't really good-looking. But he had such eyes. They were sweet and deep and they weren't afraid. He was standing at the threshold of the workroom with Hussain Khan's enormous hand gripping his arm and we were all looking at him. The fourteen of us child-slaves plus Karim, all observing another slave. He was one of the many who had come and gone over the years, but we felt that somehow, this new boy was different. He looked around at us, one by one. He was sad, of course, like anyone who has been away from home for a long time, like anyone who is little more than a slave, like anyone who can't imagine what will become of him. But I'm telling you this: He wasn't afraid. Why did the author choose to provide this fictional account of Iqbal Masih, who was a real person
Answer:
1). to interpret and share real events
2). to bring Iqbal to life through descriptive detail and dialogue
4). to add details, such as characters' thoughts and feelings, to the story since some of these details are not known
5). to engage the reader by sharing his point of view about the topic.
Explanation:
The author opted to offer a fictional account of the real person, Iqbal Masih, as he was willing to share and throw light upon the real events that took place. It allowed him to 'bring Iqbal to life using descriptive dialogues and details' that would help the readers to associate with him more effectively and 'share his internal thoughts and feelings' which would help unveil the hidden and unknown details to the readers. This fictional account also permits the author to share his own stand or point of view on the turn of events that would offer a perspective to the readers to view the text and understand it more effectively and elicit the desired feelings or responses. In the Ancient Greek tragedy, Antigone, the main character Antigone arrives in Thebes to prevent a prophecy that predicts her brothers will kill each other in battle. She arrives to find that she is too late; her brothers are already dead and her uncle, King Creon, has forbidden the burial of her brother Polyneices, having decided that he was a traitor. Antigone defies her uncle’s orders and buries her brother anyway. In fury, Creon throws her in jail, but is soon convinced by others to release her. Creon goes to the jail to give Antigone her freedom, but finds that she is dead, having killed herself in despair. Which is the falling action of Antigone? Antigone's decision to defy Creon's orders and bury her brother Creon's decision to pardon Antigone and release her from jail Creon's discovery that Antigone has hanged herself in her jail cell The battle between the two brothers which resulted in their deaths
Answer:
Creon's discovery that Antigone has hanged herself in her jail cell.
Explanation:
The following is the definition of falling action:
"Falling action occurs right after the climax, when the main problem of the story resolves. It is one of the elements of the plot of the story, the other elements being exposition, rising action, climax, and resolution. Falling action wraps up the narrative, resolves its loose ends, and leads toward the closure."
In this situation, I would be confident in saying that the climax was Antigone hanging herself - the discovery of Antigone in her cell dead would be her falling action, occurring right after the climax, leading towards closure.
The falling action of Antigone is: Creon's discovery that Antigone has hanged herself in her jail cell.
The falling action is what transpires after the climax and resolution of the story has been reached.
In this description of events, we find that the event that happened after the climax (Throwing Antigone in jail) is the discovery of Antigone's dead body.
At this point, there is little anyone can do to avert this occurrence.

Why do you think the narration switches focus to the gun after the characters leave the ruined city? As the gun parts drive toward the broken gun, what mood is created for the reader? How is this ending an example of dramatic irony?
Answer:
The ending of the story allows the events to remain open-ended. The crew leaves the planet hoping to come back, believing that the gun has been destroyed. Only the reader knows that a small army of self-repairing gadgets and an atomic warhead are moving toward the gun. Dramatic irony occurs when the reader has more knowledge about a particular outcome than the characters. So, in “The Gun,” the reader knows that the gun will repair itself, but the characters flying away are unaware of this information. This ending evokes a mood of fear and suspense as the reader realizes that the weapon of destruction will regenerate itself and will most likely strike the crew and others once they return to the planet.

Which is a minor theme in “the land”
Answer:
Education can counter inequality.
Explanation:
Mildred D. Taylor's "The Land" revolves around the life of Edward Paul-Logan, a mixed child of a white father and a black woman. Narrated from the perspective of Paul, the plot continues to follow Paul through his childhood as a mix-raced child, and his relationship with everyone, including Mitchell, the son of his father's worker.
While the whole of the story's main theme rests on the issue of inequality, especially between the whites and the blacks, it also deals a lot with friendship, loyalty, and family. And one minor theme that can also be found in the novel is that of education as a means to counter inequality. This is evident in both Paul and his friend Mitchell, who made promises to teach each other what they know- Paul will teach Mitchell how to read and write while Mitchell will, in turn, teach Paul how to fight and fend for himself. This way, both characters exhibit the theme of education as a means to counter inequality among themselves.
Answer:
Education can counter inequality.
Explanation:
'The Land' by Mildred D. Taylor primarily focuses on the intersection of racial and class oppression and consequences associated with it. However, a minor theme in the novel can be 'the education having the power to resist inequality and oppression. It is clearly reflected in Paul's passive attempts to fight the oppression instead of directly fighting with the oppressors. He internalizes his father's lesson of using 'his head instead of fists.' He knew that he was socially less powerful and therefore, he opts for peaceful resistance against injustices and oppression. He puts constant pressure and uses his energy productively to get the land he wanted.
