read this excerpt from President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address on January 20, 1961:

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility—I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it—and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Based on the excerpt, what is the central idea of this speech?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

to motivate people everywhere to uphold the freedom of humankind.

Explanation:

According to a different source, these are the options that come with this question:

to cultivate a sense of well-being among the American people.to motivate people everywhere to uphold the freedom of humankind.to motivate Americans to strive for the development of their nation.to foster a feeling of happiness and unity across people and nations.

In this text, Kennedy talks about the responsibilities that the current generation has. He tells us that he world is in a dire situation, and that it is important for everyone to do their best to defend freedom all over the world. Moreover, he talks not only to Americans, but also to the "citizens of the world" and asks them to defend the freedom of man. Read the excerpt from A Black Hole is NOT a Hole.

However, near a black hole, gases and dust and stars encounter its tug. Some things may be hurtling by so fast they won't get pulled into the black hole. Other things may not be as swift. They will be drawn in.

Closer and closer, the tugging force gets stronger and stronger. Close enough, the black hole no longer acts like a whirlpool.

With a whirlpool, there's always a fast-enough fish—or a fast-enough something—that moves so quickly it won't be pulled all the way into the center.

Not so with a black hole! Within a certain distance the black hole's power is so strong, nothing is fast enough to zip away.

What is being compared or contrasted in this excerpt?

A. A comparison between the power of a star and the power of a whirlpool is being made.
B. A contrast between the power of a star and the power of a whirlpool is being made.
C. A comparison between the power of a black hole and the power of a whirlpool is being made.
D. A contrast between the power of a black hole and the power of a whirlpool is being made.

The correct answer is C. Drew Barrymore was born exactly 100 years after her great-grandfather, Maurice, immigrated to America.

Explanation:

The Barrymore family is an important family in the field of acting, which includes famous actors such as John Drew Barrymore, Diana Blanche Barrymore, and Drew Barrymore. In the case of Drew Barrymore, she is one of the youngest actresses of this family and was born on 1975. Besides this, Drew Barrymore is the daughter of John Drew Barrymore who was born in 1932, the granddaughter of John Barrymore who was born in 1882 and the great-granddaughter of Maurice Barrymore who was born in 1849 and migrated to the United States in 1874. This means Drew Barrymore was born 101 years after her great-grandfather Maurice immigrated to America, and therefore it is false she was born exactly 100 years after this event.

To improve the argument that the ban will be effective, what would be the best fact to add?

Our topic is the droughts' impact because as a response to them Councilman Garcia proposed a strategy. Thus, we need to justify Councilman Garcia's proposal. And to let people know why they need it, we need to explain to them the impact of the drought. So they could accept it. In the second place, it is all about convincing them we have the correct point of view and we will only achieve that by providing evidence of it,

Your question is chosen randomly. 1. Please discuss the Avant-Garde, Black Activism, and the 1960s'. or 2. Please discuss Miles Davis's life and music. Don't forget his musical innovations, bands, or personal life stories.

Answers

Explanation:

ESSAY ON THE LIFE OF MILES DAVIS

Miles Davis, undoubtedly was born in a time marked by racism, although he was characterized by being a genius with the trumpet, he was a victim of racism, yet Miles with that daring personality and with that spirit of leadership that characterized him, He did not prevent those events from discouraging him from continuing to play, from continuing to create melodies with his trumpet that reached the hearts of all kinds of people regardless of their race, color, or religion, Miles through his music reflected that desire for equality for all within a nation that resisted to tolerate and give freedom of expression. That is why Miles today is remembered not only as a great ingenuity that opened the way for other people to also enter music. Miles Davis was the dominant force in jazz for at least thirty-five years. He listened, touched, and sought his own perspective; his gaze was always focused on the present and the future, never on the past. He argued that music must change (like the world) to maintain its significance. He never stood still, he never tamed, he never sought his comfort space; was constantly being reborn. Like every superior artist, with each change he left behind one style or way of working to face another; In this way he gained new followers and lost others, gained new accolades and new detractors. And none of it mattered to him.

Between 1975 and 1980, Miles stopped playing to deepen and ultimately abandon his brutal cocaine addiction. At the end of that period, in a self-taught and almost therapeutic way, to finish cleaning his body and mind of the drug intake that he maintained for almost four decades, he took up the brush and devoted himself to reflecting his thoughts on the canvas. What started as a hobby became a true passion for the musician. He took classes in New York with Jo Gelbard, with whom he developed a very good and sincere relationship; in fact, she accompanied him in his last days.

Miles's routine included painting in the morning for about five hours, then practicing with his instrument for a couple of hours, boxing, and finally composing and recording. “Painting for me is therapeutic. It keeps my mind busy with something while I'm not playing. "  Very few of his paintings were exhibited during his lifetime, and it was only after his death that the more than one hundred works by Miles began touring galleries and museums around the world in their own right. At his last European concert in Paris in 1991, he played against the background of one of his large paintings.

What is a short-term benefit for a company to regularly keeping wages low?
Employees find high job satisfaction.
Companies can expect a high turn-over.
Employees will become demoralized.
The company can keep costs to a minimum.

Answers

Answer:

The company can keep costs to a minimum.

Explanation:

This is the advantage that such a strategy would have for a company in the short-term. A company that regularly keeps wages low is likely to save money initially. However, this strategy is not a successful one in the long term. Such a company would most likely have employees who are unhappy or unsatisfied with their job. It would also lead to a high turn-over due to employees being demoralized.
