The Offering

By the time the wolf reaches her she has already eaten the other children. It studies her, blood still
dribbling from her chin, and believing her more beast than child, it slinks off to the next town. But the
children are still in her, as she knew they would be, and after some reassurance that she’s a safe vessel,
they start to come out again.
It begins in small ways. She enjoys foods she once didn’t. She starts to take a new way home
from school. Sometimes she visits their mothers, who make her pancakes and ask about her day.
Occasionally they nudge her to clean the rooms of the eaten, still messy, untouched. They’re grateful to
have a glimmer of their children. Others weren’t so lucky.
In time the children become stronger. She no longer enjoys ballet; she plays soccer instead. She quits
the debate team, preferring to stay home and play video games. She becomes allergic to her own dog,
so her parents put it up for adoption. Soon she pals around with the older children—the siblings of the
ones she ate—who were rendered safe by their extra few years on earth. They teach her how to smoke
cigarettes and steal things from people’s mailboxes.
She tries to make them all happy but there are so many of them, so many voices, it’s hard to know
whose feelings are whose. She wants to quiet them, but how can she? She’s the lucky one. The one
who’s still here.
A few months roll around and she’s eating dinner at a different house each night, sleeping in a different
bed, playing a different sport. Her handwriting is never the same. She starts using words she’d never
learned before. Rude words. She is very, very tired. But they still want more.
She leaves in the middle of the night so the parents can’t stop her. It takes time for her to find anybody,
the next town so irreparably gutted. They must have had more children here. But when she sees the
other girl crying, tiny face framed by a red bow, she knows she has found the one. The other girl counts
stones on the cold sidewalk, giving them each a name: Emma, Jordan, Taylor, Mackenzie, and talks to
them, asks them what they want to do.
When she approaches, the other girl startles. I thought you were the wolf, the other girl whispers. I
promise I tried to save them.
She kneels beside the other girl, wipes the tears from her eyes. Eat me, she says. It will help.

This year has been very rewarded to me. Two months ago I started a new experience in life; I met a person from my church, she invited to me to go with  her to preach god's word to a bunch of homeless. At the beginning, I was a little scared because homeless people do not have the best reputation in town but at the end I accepted.

That morning my friend picked me up really early, we had to organize the place, take the chairs, set the table, prepare the snacks, test the equipments I mean the microphone and the speakers. When we have all ready, the homeless people started to arrive. I felt a little bit weird. I never thought to be there but it happened.

They started to pray and something happened, I could see God's mercy on the face of those people. They were there enjoying that moment and accepting those beautiful words. After that, I helped to serve food and beverage and I could discover how lucky I am to have a family, food, a place called home and a lot of things.

This experience helped me to understand that I needed a change in my life;  I had to be more helpful and avoid worrying for things that they are not worth them. I could see everyone with the same eyes and try to make a difference in people's life.

Life is really hard most of the time and this group from my chuch helped to see my life from different point of view.

From this experience I learned that I could be a better person, and I could help other people, whose they do not have anything in life but they are so happy with a smile, a hug a sweet word or a handshake-

Then, he looked around and it seemed to him that he was still in the same place as before, nothing has changed. When he got tired of standing he sat down and cried. “Where am I?” he cried. Yet, there was no one to console him. There was no God nor man or woman, or even animal to be by his side. He was all alone in a secluded place that seemed to have no end. He thought that maybe perhaps it was a haunted place that whoever enters can never go back to their original life. This thought made him feel the temptation to dig a grave for himself, and he did, with his bare hands. When he finished he laid in it and waited and once he found his flesh no longer chubby but instead sucked to the bone he took the pile of dirt that he withdrew from the ground to dig the grave and he… still in the grave began shoving the dirt within the hole he made and he submerged himself within the dirt and due to suffocation, he died.
