Answer 1

Answer:

Andrea Mathews looked at the tiny hat in his hands and felt jumpy.

He walked over to the window and reflected on his beautiful surroundings. He had always loved grey Amsterdam with its lonely, light lakes. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel jumpy.

Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Jona Thunder. Jona was a clever coward with brunette hair.

Andrea gulped. He glanced at his own reflection. He was tall with thick eyebrows and wide thighs. His friends saw him as courageous. Once, he had even brought a knowing puppy back from the brink of death.

But not even a special person who had once brought a knowing puppy back from the brink of death, was prepared for what Jona had in store today.

The snow flurried like singing foxes, making Andrea relaxed.

As Andrea stepped outside and Jona came closer, he could see the vigorous glint in his eye.

Jona glared with all the wrath of 7897 wild bored bears. He said, in hushed tones, "I hate you and I want a fight."

Andrea looked back, even more relaxed and still playing with the tiny hat. "Lets do this," he replied.

They looked at each other with confident feelings, like two hard, hungry guys looking for a fight.

Andrea stepped forward and as he did his hat transformed into a sword.

Jona looked surprised, but he didnt let the surprise weapon stop him from drawing out his own sword.

And then the fight began.

Answer 2

Answer:

Me and my girl friend, Vanessa, collect odd things.

When I say odd, I mean disturbing. Glass jars full of pickled snakes, fish, slugs, and any other gross creature we happen to like. We have bones scattered everywhere around our house in the forms of jewelry, wall pieces, art, statues, ect. We have dead taxidermy mice, snakes, squirrels, and even a cat that used to be Vanessa's. We don't pickle or taxidermy them ourselves, we just find them from scary estate sales, antique sales, or stores.

One day, while looking for an anniversary gift for Vanessa, I came across a black magic shop. I know she likes the concept of black magic, and very creepy things, so I decided to go in. The shop smelled like old socks and cloves, and it was dark. There were books of all kinds, spices, jars, sage sticks, and different charms around the entire store. As I was looking around the store, a man comes out from the back of the shop, holding a box full of bottles.

"Can I help you with anything?" The man asked, and I nodded.

"Uh, yeah, my girl friend and I have been together for about 5 years, and I was looking for an anniversary gift for her. Got any ideas for me? She really likes odd things, ya' know?"

He nods, and beckons me over to the counter. I put down the jar I was examining, and walk over. He disappears into the back again, and comes back out with a doll that is made out of wood.

"Does she like dolls? Maybe she'll like to have Karlie. I've been looking for a home for her for many years, but well... You know the stigma of scary looking dolls. She isn't haunted, I promise, just a little odd looking."  He explained, and I was ecstatic. Yeah, the doll looked scary, but the scarier the better, honestly. It means Vanessa would like it even more. It's head was very round, with painted rosy cheeks and dark painted on eyes. It's nose and ears were sticking out, and it's hair was made of yarn.

"Oh, my God. She'll love it. She has an entire room at home full of weird dolls and such. Thank you so much sir! How much?" I asked, pulling out my wallet.

"Oh, no. You don't have to pay anything. Karlie here has been living in my shop for so long, she's free. Take her." He said, smiling at the doll then holding her out for me. "You take good care of her now," he says. "If you ever need her repaired, just bring her back here. I'll do it for free."

I was a little shocked by how nice he was being, but nodded in agreement. "Of course. My girl friend takes care of all her stuff."

Later that evening, after we had dinner and went on a well deserved date night, it was time for me to give her the gift.

"Hey, I got you something." I said, and picked up the shoe box from the floor beside the couch, and handed it to her.

"Oh, thank you, Kevin! I love it so, so much!" She said after she opened it, flinging her arms around me. "What's her name?"

"Karlie. The man at the store called her Karlie. She'll look good with the rest of your collection, huh?" I asked, and she nodded enthusiastically, hugging the doll to her chest.

"I love you, Kevin," She said, and I smiled.

That night, she decided to sleep with the doll in our room, and I had no objections. I was just so glad that she loved it, I didn't care what she did with it. She can be hard to shop for, since she's already seen everything weird and has everything she could want.

But, later that night, I swore I could hear a baby crying. I woke up to hear Vanessa talking quietly, and a baby crying so loud that it was almost ear splitting.

"Shh, shh, it's okay Karlie, I know he gave you away, but I'm gonna take good care of you." My heart stopped. You'd think someone who collects the most odd things imaginable would be used to scary things happening, but really, that's not true. This has never happened before. Watching my girl friend talk to a crying doll that I swear wasn't alive earlier is one of the weirdest things that has ever happened. Ever.

"Vanessa? Why are you talking to the doll?" I asked, she looked at me like I was a dunce.

"Her father just gave her away like that. The man who created her, the shop owner." She explained to me, cradling the wooden baby.

Instead of freaking out, like any sane person would, I just nodded. I nodded and let her cradle that baby, and act like it was real. I heard it too, so she's not the only one. I never even really questioned it after a while, just kind of went with it.

I don't exactly remember when we started treating it like a real baby, but it just sort of happened. Vanessa wanted the doll to keep from getting mad, so she gave her the best life she possibly could. And I just went with it. I mean, what else could you do?  So that is how we became parents. Of a wooden doll.

Which of the following is NOT correct regarding paragraph transitions? They are often described as bridges between ideas, thoughts, or concepts. They provide some sense of where you’ve been and where you are going with your document. They guide the audience in the progression from one significant idea, concept, or point to the next. They contain a main idea, a secondary thought, and a purpose that is stated in an introduction.

Answers

Answer:

They contain a main idea, a secondary thought, and a purpose that is stated in an introduction.

Explanation:

Transitions are the words, phrases, or even sentences that are used to move from one point to another while still connect the ideas from one paragraph to another. They help in preventing the abrupt start of a new paragraph, allowing the readers to easily understand the move from one paragraph to the next.

Among the given options, the one statement that is not correct regarding paragraph transitions is that "[transitions] contain the main idea, a secondary thought, and a purpose that is stated in an introduction." Transitions do not contain the main idea but rather show the relationship between the main idea(s) and the supporting arguments used by the speaker/writer.

Thus, the correct answer is the fourth option.

Communication is the act of exchanging, receiving, and interpreting messages, whereas communication is the mechanism by which such messages are conveyed.

'Advantages and disadvantages of long holidays'

Answers

Answer:

The advantages of long holiday breaks during school are plentiful, but it can also be harmful for the educational process.

Some advantages of having long holidays is relaxation, time with family and friends, extra time to have a nice vacation, and doing regular holiday activities and festivities. Breaks can be helpful for students and staff because it helps relieve stress and rejuvenates them for the rest of the year. Students may also be able to study longer during breaks and be prepared for finals or exams for the end of the semesters, or entrance exams depending on what holiday is being celebrated.

Some disadvantages are missing time in the classroom, it can often make students forgetful, not many students study during breaks, and not many keep up with their learning. Some students are reliable enough to do projects or homework over an extended holiday, but others aren't, and it can really harm their grades. Students may see holiday breaks as full time vacation, and while they should be having fun, they also need to remember that school is important and they should keep learning to help themselves.

Not all breaks are bad, but some students may not be able to keep up with their homework or projects, and that's the disadvantage of holidays.

Hope this helped you out :)

Answers

b, it reads well and sounds better

Observe cavorting over patches of snow, jumping and twisting their bodies is the best version of the underlined portion of sentence 2. Hence, option B is correct.

What is a jump and twist?

Either in front of you or out to the sides, raise your arms to shoulder height (parallel to the floor). Swing them to one side across your torso and rotate your lower body in the opposite direction. Twist the other direction repeatedly.

A calisthenics, cardiovascular, pilates, and plyometric exercise called leaping oblique twist primarily targets the calves and, to a lesser extent, the abdomen, lower back, and obliques.

Twisting happens when various body components cross the body's midline (e.g. reaching backward to retrieve something without moving the feet). Your youngster will have stability issues as a result because the base of support hasn't altered but the center of gravity has (feet remain stationary).

Thus, option B is correct.

Something there is that doesn't love a wall, That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it, And spills the upper boulders in the sun, And makes gaps even two can pass abreast. The work of hunters is another thing: I have come after them and made repair Where they have left not one stone on a stone, But they would have the rabbit out of hiding, To please the yelping dogs. What is the speaker of this poem doing

Answers

Answer:

b). inspecting a stone wall.

Explanation:

The lines are from Robert Frost's poem titled 'Mending Wall.' In the given lines, the speaker is examining the stone wall that has separated the two neighbors. He says that 'something...doesn't love a wall' in order to refer to nature's dislike of this wall as it leads to 'frozen ground' among two neighbors and 'make gaps...swell...burst.' Later he talks about the damage caused to the wall by the hunter's work but he would fix it again but thinks that rabbits may come 'out of hiding.' Thus, this shows that he is examining the wall. Hence, option b is the correct answer.

Superlative adjectives are used to compare more than two individuals or objects, while comparative adjectives are used to compare two individuals or objects.
