Texting, messaging, and Twitter have resulted in the development of new abbreviations, acronyms, rebus writing, and emoticons. This is a system that is continuing to evolve. Who was most likely to be using these new forms of writing 10 and 15 years ago, and who wasn’t? How does that differ from their use, today? How do you explain this change?

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

Ten years ago, teenagers were the most likely to use this type of language and the least likely were the elderly and adults. Today, everyone is likely to use this kind of language.

This change happened due to the dynamism that communication currently presents, due to the popularization of the internet and messaging applications that allow faster and more accessible communication for people of all ages. This popularity did not exist among adults 10 years ago, with quick communication using slang, abbreviations and emoticons more popular among teenagers.

What matter weighs heavily on Douglass’ heart?

Answers

Mark Brainliest please

Douglass spent about seven years in Master Hugh's house, and, in secret, he learned to read and write during that time, despite the fact that the once-kindly Mrs. Auld soon internalized the evils of being a slave owner. She accepted the advice of her husband and became a strident advocate of keeping slaves illiterate, for she feared losing Douglass if he gained an education. However, Douglass developed schemes to learn how to read; he tricked neighborhood kids into teaching him by giving bread to poor white boys in exchange for lessons, and he practiced writing using little Thomas' books.

Ironically, Douglass' ability to read soon made him unhappy, for it opened up a whole new-and wretched-world for him. From newspapers, he realized the enormity of a people enslaved by powerful white masters. However, newspapers also furnished him information about the abolitionist movements in the North, and he learned about the Irish dramatist and politician Richard Brinsley Sheridan and his struggles for Catholic emancipation and human rights. His spirits began to lift after meeting some sympathetic Irish workers in a shipyard, who advised him to escape to the North. He was only twelve years old, but he resolved that day to eventually run away.

Analysis

Until his arrival in Baltimore, Douglass had been a victim of circumstances; decisions affecting him were made for him. Now, for the first time, he begins to make decisions independent of the people around him. His first major decision is deciding that he wants to learn. His resolve is further strengthened when Hugh Auld tries to prevent him from gaining an education. At that moment, he realizes that the ability of powerful whites to control slaves comes not so much from physical control as it does from mental domination. As long as whites can keep slaves ignorant, they can control them. Hugh's diatribe against educating slaves ironically becomes a significant revelation to Douglass: "I now understood . . . the white man's power to enslave the black man. . . . I was gladdened by the invaluable instruchon which, by the merest accident, I had gained from my master." Douglass was determined to learn to read — at all costs.

Evidential standards for the treatment of slaves in cities were somewhat better than those in the countryside. In the countryside, Lloyd had few white neighbors, so mistreatment was unlikely to be censured by others. In the cities, larger populations subjected slave owners to more public scrutiny. Neighbors thus had a moderating effect on the conduct of slaveholders in the city.

I fully agree with this statement, as I believe that each person is the owner of their own life decisions and, therefore, capable of determining the future of their life with their actions.

Thus, each person makes decisions that negatively or positively influence the development of their future life, without these being conditioned by third parties. In this way, the free will with which each person carries out his life implies the possibility of each individual to determine his own future based on his own decisions.

Answer:

Photography is the art, science, and practice of capturing and preserving pictures by recording light, either electronically with an image sensor or chemically with a light-sensitive substance like photographic film. In basic terms, it is the skill of collecting light with a camera to generate a picture, generally using a digital sensor or film. You may even picture wavelengths of light that are invisible to an unassisted vision eye, such as UV, infrared, and radio, with the correct camera equipment. It has a wide range of applications in research, industry, and business, as well as more direct applications in art, film and video production, entertainment, hobbies, and mass communication.

When analyzing an allegory, what should a reader look for while considering a character’s goals?

Answers

This question is missing the answer choices. I was able to find them online. They are the following:

When analyzing an allegory, what should a reader look for while considering a character's goals?

A. motives for their actions

B. names of the characters

C. objects and appearances

D. challenges and obstacles

Answer:

What the reader should look for while considering a character's goals are:

A. motives for their actions.

Explanation:

An allegory is a type of story that serves the purpose of conveying a bigger message or meaning than the story itself. The characters and events represent real-life people and occurrences or convey a moral lesson.

A famous example of an allegory is George Orwell's "Animal Farm". When analyzing the characters' goals in this allegory, readers should look for the characters' motives for their actions. For instance, the pigs represent the Soviet leaders in Russia. Readers can tell that the motives for their actions are greed and arrogance. The pigs lie, force the other animals to work, and even kill, all to achieve their goals of living comfortably and remaining in power.

George Orwell was a famous British writer and critic (1903 - 1950).
