Antigone is a play of tragedy written by the Greek Sophocles, which deals with topics such as the family, religious norms, and the laws of the State. This story presents the situation in which Antigone is faced with the decision to bury or not the body of Polinices (her brother) because Creon (king of Thebes) prohibited burying her body as an exemplary punishment for betraying him. Abrams calls it a "mystery box,"because he never opened it. He says he wants to preserve the mystery, and remind 30 himself to create unexpected stories. Tohim, the box "represents infinitel possibility. It represents hope. It represents potential."

Abrams has even used the box metaphor to describe movie theaters. "What's a bigger mystery box than a movie theater? Yougoto the theater, you're just so excited to see anything ...mystery boxes are everywhere in what I do."The box remains a source of 35 inspiration for Abrams, and he keeps it on a shelf in his office.

At a dinner party in 1994, Abrams met a woman named Katie McGrath and they got married soon after. Today, the couple and their three children live near LosAngeles, California, where Abrams runs his own production company called Bad Robot. He keeps busy, usually working on many projects at once, and is always lookingto create 40 more and more mystery boxes.

what does the meaning behind Luca?

Answers

Answer:

It's the Italian equivalent of Luke and means “bringer of light,” something delighted parents around the globe would agree is true about their precious offspring.

hope it helpsstay safe healthy and happy....

Answer:

The name Luca is of English origin and means "bringer of light". It is the Italian variation of Luke or Lucas, meaning "man from Lucania".

Luca is not, ultimately, a love story. But it is a story that’s explicitly about otherness and self-discovery. The symbolism lends itself to interpretations of queerness, or as an allegory of assimilation.

SUMMARY OF LUCA (SPOILERS)

SEA CHANGE – Disney and Pixar’s “Luca” is a coming-of-age story about a sea monster who dreams of life beyond the surface. Since sea monsters look human when they’re dry, filmmakers at Pixar Animation Studios had to figure out how to showcase the incredible transformation from sea monster to human and back again in a fun and organic way. Given concept art and parameters driven by story, technical teams worked toward giving artists the flexibility to craft each transformation according to story needs—dictating details like the origin and speed of the transformation. The end result—developed through the collaboration of multiple teams, including art, tools and global technology, characters, effects, animation, simulation and lighting—is stylized, specific and seamless.

Summary begins here

Alberto and Luca run away to live in Portorosso after Luca’s loving but overprotective parents (Maya Rudolph and Jim Gaffigan) attempt to send him to live with his deep-sea-dwelling Uncle Ugo (Sacha Baron Cohen). The kids have to pass in a community they expect would react with hostility if they were ever perceived as they wholly are. Alberto harbors a fantasy of perpetual escape in which he and Luca will use the prize money from the race to buy a Vespa and go on a never-ending road trip, while Luca, to Alberto’s dismay, starts to wonder if there’s a place where he can learn from and live among the humans — even though there are some, like town bully Ercole Visconti (Saverio Raimondo), who wear their intolerance proudly. “What happens when she sees you? When anyone sees you?” Alberto demands when Luca starts talking about following Giulia to school.

Luca is so intent on meaning something that it only ever halfway inhabits the delightfully colorful world it lays out. We never get a deeper understanding of the history between the sea monsters and the humans beyond some hints that there has been far more interaction than Luca was raised to believe. We never find out why Luca’s mother thinks the world is so dangerous; the narrative just needs her to be paranoid, and so she is. Alberto’s wayward dad remains an offscreen squiggle, a means of bolstering the surrogate-parent relationship Alberto begins to develop with Giulia’s father, a stern but kind fisherman whose bushy eyebrows are identical to his bushy mustache. Luca falls in love with astronomy after Giulia shows him the heavens through a telescope, but his burgeoning desire to study exists in contrast to nothing in particular, because there’s no sense of what future would have been available to him had he stayed underwater.

One of the side effects of children’s films becoming more progressive, aware, and careful is that they can lose some of the dimensionality they had before, when they were awash with subtext that didn’t always feel coherent or intended. Luca collects artifacts from the world above — much like a certain Disney mermaid with whom he shares a corporate umbrella — while never encountering anyone as defiantly memorable as Ursula, a villain based on the drag queen Divine. The film would rather evoke Guadagnino and Hayao Miyazaki, especially the latter’s Porco Rosso; the 1992 movie is an obvious touch point. But Luca doesn’t have the lived-in texture of a Studio Ghibli production, either, that palpable sense of a universe extending beyond each animated frame. What it does have are some groovy Italian pop songs and a setting as pleasant as a summer afternoon. The light glimmers off the surface of the ocean without any worry of going too deep.

Stealing the Day
by Samantha G. (excerpt)

I achieved the unofficial "smart kid" designation in elementary school, and it was not until years later that I met someone who threatened to depose me from my reign.

His name was George, after our nation's first president, and he had been the smartest kid in school during his early academic career as well; but George grew up on the other side of town, so we had really never crossed paths. We were introduced in our biology class, seated at opposite ends of the first row of desks. When our teacher began asking basic questions to test our science knowledge, George and I had not even noticed each other's existence.

But when Mr. Hartley inquired about the aardvark's natural habitat, both of us shot a hand into the air.

"Africa!" exploded the dual shout, followed by snickering from the rest of the class. I peeked in the direction of the other voice to see George gazing directly ahead, as though he was oblivious to anyone else. Surely, he perceived the awkwardness of this circumstance, and had the abrupt comprehension that there was another "smart kid" in the school! But no acknowledgment crossed his face, and I stared back at my own desk as class continued.

When the bell rang and students began jostling out the door, I hung back, thinking that I should at least introduce myself to George. He had waited for everyone else to push out of the classroom as well, and I extended my hand toward him with a smile.

"I just wanted to let you know that I plan to outdo you in every class we have together this semester, and every semester until graduation," he said.

Without glancing in my direction, George dashed out the door and down the hall toward his locker. I was left in shock at his words, at the audacity of his confidence and conceit. After standing immobile for a few moments, I ducked out the side door of the classroom into the late summer sunshine to comprehend what had just transpired. Ultimately, I came to the apparent explanation to his immature attack: George perceived me as a threat.

When the regional science fair was announced, I knew George had already begun working on his entry, as I had. On the day of presentations, as professors from the local university strolled among poster board displays and homemade volcanoes, I had a clear view of George's project. When he detected my surveillance, George began sauntering toward me and I planted my feet firmly, steeling myself for the verbal assault.

"Is this your first science fair?" he inquired, observing my display critically. "I want to make you aware that I'm going to—"

"I know, I know. You're going to beat me at everything." George smirked, self-satisfied and headed back toward his own project. Anger surged through me as I thought of his haughty conduct, his readiness to belittle me at every opportunity. But it was imperative that George not divert me, and I regained my composure as I spied a science fair judge in my peripheral vision.

By November, George was plainly exhausted by his one-sided antagonism, and I scarcely saw him after Thanksgiving. When report cards were distributed before Christmas, he never approached me to compare grades, and I knew that he had relinquished the battle.

Although you have not shown the poem you are referring to, from the context of your question we can see that you are referring to the poem "Ode to the West Wind" where in lines 15 and 16, poet Mary Shelley compares the wind moving the clouds with the wind that move the dead leaves that have fallen from the trees, so that new leaves can re-emerge. In this comparison, Shelley claims that the wind shakes the clouds as if they were branches of trees and drags them across the sky as if they were leaves, dropped on the ground.

including facts in an essay establishes fallacy, sets the time period, represents status, or gains credibility?

Answers

Answer: gains credibility

Explanation:

When an essay includes events that actually happened, it makes the scenario being described seem more likely to be true thereby giving it an extra measure of credibility because the stories can be related to actual events.

If one just makes up facts that cannot be related to the real world however, the scenario becomes more fictitious in the eyes of a reader and might even be declared a fallacious.

Read the passage from "The Lady, or the Tiger.”

Directly opposite him, on the other side of the inclosed space, were two doors, exactly alike and side by side. It was the duty and the privilege of the person on trial to walk directly to these doors and open one of them. He could open either door he pleased; he was subject to no guidance or influence but that of the aforementioned impartial and incorruptible chance.

What is the author’s purpose for describing the two doors as absolutely identical?

Answers

This question is missing the answer choices. I was able to find the complete question online. The choices are the following:

A. to reveal that the outcome of the trial is decided by luck.

B. to show that the verdict is predetermined.

C. to reveal that the defendants are in control of the verdict.

D. to emphasize that the trial is completely fair.

Answer:

The author's purpose for describing the two doors as absolutely identical is:

A. to reveal that the outcome of the trial is decided by luck.

Explanation:

"The Lady, or the Tiger" is a short story by American author and humorist Frank Richard Stockton (18340-1902). In the story, a king is described as semi-barbaric, which shows he is only partially civilized. He understands the importance of a trial to decide whether someone is guilty of a crime or not. However, the trial he comes up with is absurd, and the outcome is decided by sheer luck.

The person being accused of the crime is led to an arena. There, he is supposed to choose between two doors. Behind one of them, he will find a beautiful maiden. Behind the other one, he will find a tiger. The doors are completely identical - nothing about them reveals what is behind them. Thus, it is really a matter of luck whether the man will choose the lady or the tiger. If he chooses the door with the maiden, he is found innocent, and his reward is to marry her immediately. If he chooses the door with the tiger, he is found guilty, and his punishment is to be eaten by the animal.

As we can see, it does not matter whether the person really committed a crime or not. What matters is how lucky he is to choose to right door.
