The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best

Kabir and his friends were returning from an punting when their car broke down in the middle of the forest. They searched the forest for an inn to stay for the night and found one. The inn belonged to a man named Samuel Dickens. He was a forestor. He told them not to come here as this area was a very haunted place. But they did not listen to him and asked if they could spend here for the night. He agreed and took them inside the house. He gave them food and told them that their beds where in the next room. They closed the lights and slept. In the middle of the night, a moaning noise was heard. Kabir and his friends heard the sound and woke up to check. They saw Mr Samuel lying on the ground and a strange creature on top of him. Kabir and his friends shrieked with horror and ran out of the house, took the car and drove away. The man in the inn had repaired their car and went inside the house when this thing attacked him. Kabir still remembers it and never went to the forest again.

Imagine you are directing a movie based on a book or short story you have read. Choose one of the characters and describe what you would make his or her costume look like.
Answer and Explanation:
Character chosen: Daisy Buchanan, from the novel "The Great Gatsby"
Costume: since Daisy is a wealthy young woman living through the roaring 1920's, her dresses would be mostly light-colored during the day, and extravagantly sparkly for the night. They would be knee-length, loose fitting, with a low waist, and mostly short-sleeved. She would wear heels, colors changing according to the dress. Her short hair would be arranged in tight waves.
Select the correct answer. My mom is always repeating the same old joke: if your friends all jumped off a cliff, would you jump, too? Of course not. But I get what she means. She's talking about peer pressure. Teenagers like us live with it every day. Pretty much every kid wants to be liked, to have friends, to be popular. No one wants people to think they aren't cool. While peer pressure is tough, giving in to it and getting in trouble is tougher. But teenagers are still learning to make good decisions. Like this one time my friend Harold wanted to take his dad's prized Jeep Grand Cherokee for a drive. Harold was 13, and he'd never driven a car before. But he figured he knew enough about operating a motor vehicle just by watching his parents drive. When his parents were out of town one weekend, Harold invited me and some of our friends over to his house so he could take us for a drive. I said, "Not me," because I knew it was a stupid thing to do. I told him and everybody else what I thought of the idea. (Driving isn't easy. It took my big brother weeks to get the hang of it.) Harold got mad and told me I was being a chicken. I said, "I'd rather be a chicken than get in an accident and have a broken leg." What is the topic of this passage? A. Harold B. being popular C. peer pressure D. learning to drive
Answer:
C. Peer Pressure
Explanation:
The answer is C because in the passage, his friend Harold is trying to use peer pressure to force him into driving when they shouldn't.

Please can someone tell me the chapter 2 summary of Kensuke's kingdom
Answer:
The answer is
Explanation:
A young boy, Michael, travels with his parents around the world on the yacht Peggy Sue. Michael's parents teach him what he would have normally learnt at school themselves. When he is on lookout one night, steering the boat, Michael and his dog, Stella Artois, are washed overboard. They awake to discover that they are stranded on a desert island in the Pacific Ocean.
While Michael is struggling to survive on the island, food is regularly left for him. To his surprise, he learns that an old man called Kensuke is also living on the island. Kensuke helps Michael to survive. He sets guidelines that Michael thinks are just annoyances. When he is nearly killed by a giant jelly fish, Kensuke tends to Michael, and Michael eventually befriends him.
Michael teaches Kensuke English, and Kensuke in return teaches Michael how to paint, how to fish and where to find the best food and water. He is eventually revealed to be a doctor and survivor of ww 2, and he believes that his family died in nagasaki after the atomic bomb was dropped there on August 9, 1945. Over time Kensuke begins to understand how Michael feels and how he misses his family. They both build a beacon that would be lit to signal to ships, but for a long time they see no sign of any ships. Later, however Michael witnesses a Chinese junk and he consults Kensuke as to whether or not he should light the beacon, but Kensuke recognizes the ship as that of poachers and he and Michael rush to gather all the orangutans into the cave to protect them from the threat that lies in the ship. They nearly succeed but miss out one orangutan, that Kensuke calls Kikanbo, which they could not find. The ship arrives and they both hear gunshots. When the ship leaves they discover that some gibbon monkeys had been killed, but that Kikanbo was still alive. The next time they see a ship it is not the poachers and they both light the fire. The crew on the ship see the fire and change direction, heading towards the island. When the boat is closer, Michael sees that the boat is the Peggy Sue, with his parents on-board. Kensuke decides at that point, despite thinking otherwise earlier, that he would not be sailing home with Michael and tells him to keep everything a secret until 10 years had passed and Kensuke was dead. Michael runs out to the beach where the ship had landed and is reunited with his parents.
Hope this helps....

Which statement best describes the meter? The meter is free, imitating the flow of conversational speech. The meter is free, making the poem unpredictable. The meter is fixed, and every syllable is stressed. The meter is fixed, drawing attention to the end rhyme.
This question is missing the necessary passage/lines to be answered. I've found the complete question online. It is the following:
As every eye awaits her hand
To cue the members of the band.
Which statement best describes the meter?
A. The meter is free, imitating the flow of conversational speech.
B. The meter is free, making the poem unpredictable.
C. The meter is fixed, and every syllable is stressed.
D. The meter is fixed, drawing attention to the end rhyme.
Answer:
The correct answer is letter D. The meter is fixed, drawing attention to the end rhyme.
Explanation:
As every eye awaits her hand
To cue the members of the band.
The lines above are an example of iambic tetrameter. An iamb is a sequence consisting of an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed one. Since we have that pattern repeat 4 times in each line, they are called iambic tetrameters (tetra means 4). Since both lines have the same meter, we can say the meter is fixed. Also, since they are iambic, they end in a stressed syllable, which draws attention to the end rhyme. Therefore, the correct answer is D. The meter is fixed, drawing attention to the end rhyme.
The statement that most adequately recounts the meter would be as follows:
D). The meter is fixed, drawing attention to the end rhyme.
'Meter' is characterized as the pattern of rhythm(emphasis on particular words through syllables) that is followed by the poet or poetess in a poem. The key purpose of a meter is to add melody, as well as, rhythm in every line of the poem that promotes its readability and memorization among the readers through the rhyme and rhythimc structure employed in a poem through meter. Therefore, the meter is static in nature because it aims to add emphasis to certain set of syllables in each line to fulfill the poetic demands and make it more effective and melodius and rhythmic.
Thus, option D is the correct answer.

Younique is writing an essay in favor of recycling to reduce garbage in the ocean. Which piece of evidence is least relevant to her argument? 1. Litter is not only ugly, but also harmful to animals in national parks 2. Millions of plastic water bottles end up in the ocean each year, adding to the millions already there and not decomposing. 3. Recycling has become easier with many public places including recycling bins right next to all garbage cans. 4. Plastic that hasn't been recycled has extremely harmful effects to the wildlife that live in the ocean.
Answer:
1. Litter is not only ugly but also harmful to animals in national parks.
Explanation:
Option number one is the least important piece of evidence in Younqique's essay because it is not giving information about how garbage and not recycling can affect the oceans. The statement is talking about animals in general and not giving specific evidence about how animals in the sea are affected. The other options are relevant because they inform about the benefits of recycling and the negative impact that the accumulation of garbage in oceans has, encouraging us to recycle.
21. Antithesis means to put two ideas together in order to contrast them, pointing out their differences. In sentence 20, what
does Henry contrast with "love and reconciliation"? What is the effect?
Answer:
He contrasts them with "Fleets and Armies." This helps Henry emphasize that 'Great Britain has previously taken the matter from 'the diplomatic phase to the military phase.'
Explanation:
Antithesis is described as the literary device in which two contrasting ideas are juxtaposed in parallel form. It helps the author to create a balanced effect and provide a better understanding to readers.
In sentence 20, the 'love and reconciliation' are contrasted with 'Fleets and Armies' to signify that Great Britain does not consider the former('love and reconciliation') to be a viable strategy. It helps Henry to highlight that Britain has already taken the matter to the military phase and there is no scope to 'diplomatic options to resolve the issue.'

Which of these inferences is best supported by the following paragraph? “If then we prefer to meet danger with a light heart but without laborious training, and with a courage which is gained by habit and not enforced by law, are we not greatly the better for it? Since we do not anticipate the pain, although, when the hour comes, we can be as brave as those who never allow themselves to rest; thus our city is equally admirable in peace and in war. For we are lovers of the beautiful in our tastes and our strength lies, in our opinion, not in deliberation and discussion, but that knowledge which is gained by discussion preparatory to action. For we have a peculiar power of thinking before we act, and of acting, too, whereas other men are courageous from ignorance but hesitate upon reflection. And they are surely to be esteemed the bravest spirits who, having the clearest sense both of the pains and pleasures of life, do not on that account shrink from danger. In doing good, again, we are unlike others; we make our friends by conferring, not by receiving favors. Now he who confers a favor is the firmer friend, because he would rather by kindness keep alive the memory of an obligation; but the recipient is colder in his feelings, because he knows that in requiting another’s generosity he will not be winning gratitude but only paying a debt. We alone do good to our neighbors not upon a calculation of interest, but in the confidence of freedom and in a frank and fearless spirit. To sum up: I say that Athens is the school of Hellas, and that the individual Athenian in his own person seems to have the power of adapting himself to the most varied forms of action with the utmost versatility and grace. This is no passing and idle word, but truth and fact; and the assertion is verified by the position to which these qualities have raised the state. For in the hour of trial Athens alone among her contemporaries is superior to the report of her. No enemy who comes against her is indignant at the reverses which he sustains at the hands of such a city; no subject complains that his masters are unworthy of him. And we shall assuredly not be without witnesses; there are mighty monuments of our power which will make us the wonder of this and of succeeding ages; we shall not need the praises of Homer or of any other panegyrist whose poetry may please for the moment, although his representation of the facts will not bear the light of day. For we have compelled every land and every sea to open a path for our valor, and have everywhere planted eternal memorials of our friendship and of our enmity. Such is the city for whose sake these men nobly fought and died; they could not bear the thought that she might be taken from them; and every one of us who survive should gladly toil on her behalf.” Question 5 options: a) Grief has deranged Pericles beyond reason. b) Pericles fears that the dead have been sacrificed in vain. c) Pericles believes that Athenians play too hard and work too little. d) Pericles thinks Athens is powerful because of its intellectual freedom and motivation.
